A few months ago my life took an unexpected turn, it's strange how you can just be living your life the way you think you should be and then all of a sudden an opportunity presents itself to you that you had never thought of or even heard of before. Just a little history leading up to my discovery of essential oils first though. It seems like my whole life I have had an inner struggle with myself, trying to discover who I am and what I really wanted to do with my life. I have always wanted to be a wife and mother. I am so grateful for the wonderful family I have been blessed with. I've never wanted to work outside my home and have a "career" so I have done random jobs from home whenever I could, mostly taking phone calls or data entry stuff. Not fulfilling jobs at all but I had to help pay the bills. It seems that throughout my childhood and my married life my family has always had financial problems. If I had to choose though, financial problems are a lot better than say major health problems, divorce etc. The past few years have been especially hard on us financially. We have tried to get ahead, but we just keep falling behind, just feeling like we can barely stay afloat. We have prayed for a better job to come along or the time for Tad to go back to school or something. None of the "traditional" ways of earning a living have been working for us. I had been praying to find the right path for us to go, when something amazing happened. I went to our city's summer celebration and i ran into my friend Cassie at a booth, she was selling doTerra essential oils. I had never even heard of them before. Long story short after talking Cassie and other people at length about the oils and the business opportunity it presented. I discussed it with Tad, we prayed to know if this was the direction we should go, we both felt really strongly that it was.
What really makes sense to me with essential oils is that they come from the plants that have been on the earth forever for example, Frankincense and Myrrh were given to Christ when he was born. They must have been very valuable back then as they are now. I truly believe that everything we needed to take care of our bodies was put on this earth when it was created. Before "modern medicine" took over these plants provided healing for people when they got sick. If you think about it plants are carbon based like we are and the oils on a plant are there to protect it, just like they will help heal and protect our bodies.
Now that I know there is a natural alternative to over the counter and prescription drugs, why wouldn't I want to use them first? I have been using them on my family these past few months and I have been blown away at how well they work. I've used them for Jason's allergies and didn't have to refill his inhaler. I took care of Ryan when he got the flu. Dayna has had trouble sleeping at night, so I found and oil to put on her , she told me she hasn't slept this well in months. I even found one that helps Tad snore less at night (lol). It is so great to not feel helpless when my kids get sick . I have a whole cabinet full of things like benadryl, tylenol, tums, cold and cough stuff that hasn't hardly been used since I started using the oils. At first I thought the oils were going to cost me more money that I was paying for the medicine I usually bought. That has not been the case at all, in fact I spend less money overall its kinda like going to Costco and buying a case of ketchup, it costs you more up front, but you know it will last you a long time. My mother in law is on several prescription drugs, and some of them are to counter act the side effects of the other drug, and then there might be a side effect on that one too and on and on, it's a vicious cycle and it makes her feel like her brain is in a fog all the time. Chemicals are bad for our bodies, even though they can make you feel good at the moment and take away the symptoms, they have long term effects on us. I feel like I have new mission in life now, to help people feel better , take away their pain without using drugs.
